Dental Implants for Single Tooth Replacement

A dental implant used to replace a missing tooth is a simple process. The procedure involves placing the implant into the bone at the site of the missing tooth. It will integrate and become the anchor attachment for a fixed (permanent) restoration. The healing process takes about 12 weeks but in some situations a tooth can be placed on the implant immediately. The final tooth restoration will be permanent and custom made at a dental lab to match the mouth.

Dental Implant Definition

Implant terminology can be confusing! Let’s break it down

Dental implants consist of three parts

Implant: titatnium or ziconia screw placed into bone.  Replaces the root of a missing tooth or teeth.

Abutment: Custom-made at a dental lab.  A piece that connects the dental implant to the crown. The abutment base is screwed and torqed into the implant below the gum.  The top portion sticks out through the gum tissue into the mouth.

â—‰

Implant Crown: The new tooth replacement! Custom-made at the lab to fit perfectly over the abutment.  It will be cemented (either in the mouth or at the lab) to the abutment.  The crown is made of zirconia or porcelain and will match the other teeth.

The Dental Implant Process

Dental implants consist of three parts, of equal importance: the implant screw replacing the root of a missing tooth, an abutment connecting the implant restoration to the implant screw, and the implant restoration replacing the crown, or visible portion, of a tooth. Dental implants may be restored with individual crowns, bridges or a full-arch prosthesis, such as a denture. The process of receiving dental implants begins with a consultation and thorough evaluation. Our surgeons use advanced CBCT diagnostic imaging, to plan for precision placement of your dental implants. We also offer relaxing sedation options for a comfortable, positive treatment experience.

Our Implant Technology

We incorporate BMP-2 (Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2) into implant surgery. BMP is high-end technology used to regenerate supporting bone tissue around dental implants, improving integration with the jawbone and delivering predictable treatment results. We work closely with your general dentist to seamlessly complete your implant procedure, providing the advanced surgical technique required for implant success. Once your implant surgery is complete and your dental implants ready to be restored, we refer you back to your dentist for placement of your implant restoration(s).
